Training

Training

Training and awareness is a critical element in ensuring that ETA personnel understand and follow safety and health requirements. Training requirements are determined through assignment to various Work Activities in the Activity Manager system. Most training courses are available on-line and should be completed within the first 30 days of employment. Other training is performed directly through the work lead or supervisor and is called "On The Job Training" or OJT.

All new ETA personnel who work in laboratory areas are required to complete ETA0010 "ETA Safety Orientation" training. This is a classroom-style course that covers safety basics such as:

  • Integrated Safety Management (ISM) Prinicples
  • Work Planning and Control (WPC) and use of the Activity Manager System
  • Chemical Handling
  • Hazardous Waste Disposal
  • Hazard Communication
  • Ergonomics
  • Electrical Safety
  • Working Alone
  • Stop Work Procedures
  • Accident Reporting
  • Emergency Procedures
