Inspections

As part of the Integrated Safety Management (ISM) process, work areas must be regularly checked for potential hazards. This page provides some simple check sheets that can be used to ensure that inspections and walkthroughs are performed in a thorough manner. Types of inspections and walkthroughs performed by ETA include:

  • Quarterly lab area self-inspections
  • Quarterly division management safety walkthroughs
  • Satellite Accumulation Area (SAA) hazardous waste inspections
  • Safety stand-down events

Check sheets are also available for other types of situations such as unattended experiments, lab area shutdowns, electrical safety, work area housekeeping, and seismic safety. See the documents section on this page for these check sheets.

Always be sure to identify the root cause of any issues identified and provide a thorough corrective action to prevent future problems. For issues that are significant and need to be tracked until completion, submit a corrective action in the Corrective Action and Tracking System (CATS)
