Hot plates are commonly used in laboratory areas. During inspections of several ETA lab areas, it was noted that there were some issues regarding proper use of hot plates that if not addressed, would result in a fire. Fires can cause injuries, significant disruption of lab operations, and loss of scientific data. Read about important precautions when using hot plates.
